This image was taken from Bronoski's book on the Ascent of Man (1973) in which he provides a Chinese block print of a proof of the Pythagorus theorem. The proof was written in Chou-Pei, an ancient Chinese text providing evidence that the Chinese knew about the Pythagorus thereom many years before Pythagorus and fellow Greeks.
